accessibility at the museum

The Maritime and Prison Museum of Ushuaia considers that the approach to culture should be within everyone's reach. The building where the Museum is located was declared a National Historical Monument, for which a great job had to be done to allow ACCESS WITHOUT ARCHITECTURAL BARRIERS to all people with disabilities who visit the exhibitions and activities. Work has been done within the framework of the Accessibility Guidelines for Tourist Spaces and Services of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Nation and the National Agency for Disability, which have personnel trained in the subject.

VISITORS WITH REDUCED MOBILITY Access ramps were built, toilets and rest areas were adapted and a parking area was allocated for exclusive use.

Courtesy wheelchairs are offered, their use is free and does not require a deposit or any outlay. We have a limited number of chairs, so it is recommended to make a reservation in advance to ensure a chair for your exclusive use, by calling 02901-437481.

MMU staff will ensure that all visitors with disabilities are safely transported from one floor of our building to the next by using a 72 cm by 92 cm deep elevator adapted to the Landmark. Please ask staff if you need help locating the elevator.
