When the Swedish expedition led by Otto Nordenskjöld arrived in Buenos Aires aboard the “Antarctic” on December 16, 1901, the 21-year-old Ensign Sobral was appointed to accompany them on their navigation and wintering to Antarctica.

EXPEDItIONS 

Between 1772 and 1775 the Englishman James Cook circumnavigates Antarctica reaching unprecedented latitudes, and making most of his journey south of the Antarctic Circle (66º 33¨ S), he found the islands of San Pedro.

ARGENTINE ANTARCTIC EXPEDITIONS

The Argentine Republic has been carrying out Summer Antarctic Campaigns since 1943, during which the personnel who winter in Antarctica are relieved, supplies are provided to the bases and research and observation tasks are carried out.
