AN EXTRAORDINARY COLLECTIONAN

In the Maritime Museum of Ushuaia, the history of Tierra del Fuego and the evolution of naval construction during the last 5 centuries are recreated, through a collection of models and naval models made by Ing. Mirón Gonik, Gerardo Ghiringhelli, Carlos Casella, Manfredi Tramonti, Diego Florit, Daniel Mosquera, Gustavo Schmidt (in bottles), Horacio Rodriguez (miniatures), Manuel Abella, Harvey Bonin, María de los Ángeles Martínez, Federico Escusol Galiana and Mario Luis Rivero. Selected naval models are on the same scale (1: 100). The human scale is represented by a man 1.80 meters high and the accessories were made by hand (even the chains), in the corresponding scale. With a maritime theme, it touches everything related to the history of Tierra del Fuego from the special point of view of the man of the sea, given that the island of Tierra del Fuego and the archipelago that surrounds it, as well as the Malvinas Islands, the Georgias Islands and Antarctica are linked to the sea in all respects.
